Switch from Text Blaze
Export your folders from the Text Blaze dashboard and import the file. Shortcuts, forms, dates, and the clipboard are converted.
Step by step
1
Export from the dashboard
In the Text Blaze dashboard, open Import/Export and export a folder, or click Export all folders. A .json file downloads.
2
Import it
In Shorthand, choose File ▸ Import Snippets… (⇧⌘I), click Choose File…, and pick the file. Each folder becomes a group.
3
Turn off Text Blaze
Turn off the Text Blaze extension or app, so snippets don’t expand twice in your browser.

Good to know
Formatted snippets come across as plain text.
Ordinal day codes like “Do” (1st, 2nd) become plain day numbers.
Not yet confirmed: Text Blaze doesn’t publish its export format. Shorthand reads it the way two independent open-source importers do, and Text Blaze’s staff have confirmed its fields; it hasn’t been tested with a real export yet. If something doesn’t come across, email support@shorthandexpander.com.
Shorthand is a text expander for Mac. Your Text Blaze files stay exactly as they are.
