How shorthandexpander.com handles information. Last updated November 5, 2026.

Who we are

This website is run by John Kirker Inc., which makes Shorthand Expander for Silicon (“Shorthand”). Questions about this policy: support@shorthandexpander.com.

What this website collects

Server logs. Like every web server, ours records each request: your IP address, the page, the time, and your browser’s name. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure. They are kept for up to 60 days, then deleted.

Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address to answer you.

Release notes. If you sign up for release notes, we keep your email address, which list you’re on, when you signed up and confirmed, and the IP address and page you signed up from (as a record of your consent). We send only release notes, never share the list, and don’t track opens or clicks. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

No tracking. The site uses no analytics, advertising, or social-media trackers. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.

One cookie. Our mailing-list system sets a session cookie (PHPSESSID). It holds no personal information, isn’t used for tracking, and is deleted when you close your browser.

Downloads

The download buttons fetch Shorthand from GitHub, which receives your request under GitHub’s privacy statement.

The Shorthand app

The app doesn’t collect, store, or send any information about you. It has no account and no analytics, and your snippets stay on your Mac. Details are in the help center: Privacy, blocklist & permissions.
