Switch from Rocket Typist

Export a folder from Rocket Typist and import it. Its date, text field, and option macros become Shorthand fill-ins and date codes.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Export a folder

In Rocket Typist, export the folder you want as an .rtfolder file (or a single snippet as a .rockettypist file).

  2. 2

    Import it

In Shorthand, choose File ▸ Import Snippets… (⇧⌘I), click Choose File…, and pick the file. A folder becomes a group with the same name.

  3. 3

    Turn off Rocket Typist

Quit Rocket Typist, or turn off its expansion, so snippets don’t expand twice.

Good to know

  • JavaScript snippets come across as JavaScript snippets.

  • Formatted text comes across as plain text.

Not yet confirmed: Tested with Rocket Typist’s own example files, which are all plain text. Formatted, picture, and AI snippets haven’t been tested. If something doesn’t come across, email support@shorthandexpander.com.

Shorthand is a text expander for Mac. Your Rocket Typist files stay exactly as they are.
