What Shorthand can do

• Expand abbreviations as you type, with plain or formatted text: Abbreviations & Expansion.

• Fill-ins, dates, sums, and conditions: Fill-ins, Dates & Times, Calculations & Conditions.

• Script snippets in AppleScript, shell, or JavaScript: Script Snippets.

• AI, if you want it: rewrite selected text, let a snippet write part of itself, or have AI suggest a snippet: AI Features.

• Suggestions and reminders based on what you type often: Suggestions & Reminders.

• Tags, multi-select, and a Trash: label snippets across groups, move or tag many at once, and put back anything you delete: Tags, Trash & Multi-Select.

• A blocklist: keep Shorthand out of password managers, banking sites, and any app or website you choose: Privacy, Blocklist & Permissions.

• Per-app snippets: the same abbreviation can type different text in different apps: Per-App Snippets.

Finding your way

• Shorthand lives in the menu bar. Click its icon for search, your snippet groups, and settings.

• The main window (Open Shorthand in the menu) is where you edit snippets.

• Type in the search field at the top of this help window’s sidebar to search every help page.
